though if you want crystalclear sound you should buy a sampleCD like:

it depends on the quality you are after...
Edirol orchestral is okej but far from great!

i personally dont like the edirol it doesnt sound good to me. even though with some processing u can make something out of it.
so far the best one i`ve heard was the east west vienna.... but it costs a fortune......

get samples, and then just edit the tuning and melody (and anything else) using Melodyne =)

but what about dynamics? classical playing especially strings has lots do to with different techinques of playing like stacatto pizzicato legat etc.
i dont think you can get that with just any samples...
or can you?

you can try synful orchestra if you are not into samples. if you are into samples, you already got quite a few good advices already.

try the cheeze machine....u can make some nice orchestral sounds with decent processing
