Alright, I saw Deathposture requesting reviews of older albums and I couldn't resist it. I listened to Orichalcum's Live a while back and it is just sooo good. Here is my review of it, and I'm dying to see other opinions about this (in my eyes) classic release!!

Artist: Orichalcum
Album Name: Live
Released: 1999
Label: Creamcrop

Tracklist:

1. Wicked (6:25)
2. Homes (10:37)
3. Are You? (11:10)
4. Egg Cracked (10:41)
5. Elevation (21:07)
6. Cosmic Pillow (12:00)

Review:

Ok, so you pop this one in, and immediately it begins. The fat kick and acid sounds hit you right in the face as Wicked begins. This is a live remix of their old track Wicked Mille, to be found on the previous Orichalcum release way back in 1997. Anyway, Wicked takes you up to an acidic level and then Homes takes over fluently. The screeching melody in this one gets me every time! This is also a live mix of an old track, previously called: Alien Homes. And what a gem it is! Kicking on is number 3, which again just takes over very fluently from number 2. Again a mix from an old track which they made together with The Deviant. This one previously called: Where Are You? Pulsing on and on while these acidic sounds (that are a constant in this music) fly about left and right from the speakers, you get to number 4, which is darker. Again a mix from and old track, previously called The Egg. And here it is cracked (obviously) It is a right description for it, as the old track is given a more full on drive here. But this is psychedelic like you don't hear it very often anymore. This is... Great! These sounds really lift you up!! Talking about Elevation, that one is next, and is one of the longest pieces of psytrance you'll ever hear. Kicking straight from the start, it has almost no pauses and pulses on and on for more than 20 minutes. After that workout it all falls silent, and then you're treated to a minimal ambient track consisting of a relaxing padsound, and occasionally some weird sounds fly about, as if the psy wants to kick back in. The ambient groove doesn't let it however, and after 12 well deserved chilling minutes this cd is over and there's nothing left to do but ... Press repeat!! Hehehe...
(The whole album is mixed like a liveset, except for track 6)

It must be clear I really like this release. I loved Orichalcum's style way back in 1997, and never got my hands on the old Orcihalcum vs. The Deviant album (although it is now re-released on TIP-World) when I saw this at psyshop, I didn't hesitate. Oh, and it has brought me many joyful listens since.

So, if you like it raw, kicking and psychedelic you should check this out!! The beauty is: Psyshop still ships this! It is in stock as I write this! So, don't hesitate and buy this Psytrance classic! You won't regret it!!

This album receives a 9/10 on my scorelist!

P.S.: The old Oricalcum vs. The Deviant album is also still in stock at Psyshop. That's worth all your money too, because it is almost as good as this one!!

For all who would like to buy it: this CD (Creamcrop, 1999) and the original Orichalcum & The Deviant (TIP Records, 1997) are still available at psyshop.com.

If you liked TIP's sounds from those years (comps like: TIP 3D, Beyond Colours, Phosphorescent) and you still don't have those CDs this is probably the last chance. Do not waste it!!!

edit: I just saw Acidhive has written about this too, sorry!

@acidhive - the CD at psyshop.com is not a re-release. these are the original CDs left from TIP Records (along with some Synchro and Psychopod CDs which are on sale too)

Wicked Mille was always one of my favorite tracks, highly psychedelic and hypnotic.

When this came out I bought it at once of course.
It's very hypnotic and monotone album, all Wicked Mille in a way, with enough psychedelic minimal touches. I really liked it then, but it can bore you at times.
