Hi! This is going to be my first attempt to try to make a cd-review, and i don't know all the PRO terms, like what drummachine or syntheziser did what, so i'll hope you go easy on me guys..

Chromosome are: Anders Nilsson & Peter Malmberg

Chromosome - The Genome Project
Released: May 2004/21

1. The beginning
2. Missing link
3. Cro magnon
4. Human loop
5. Mutant androids
6. Computerized
7. Al hybrids
8. Future evolutions
9. Entering nirvana

http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/yse/yse1cd045.html

After coming home from work, i open the door and see the little note from the postoffice that my cd's i ordered has arrived. When i came home i'll quickly tear the little brown package open. I turn on my stereo and put in Chromosome's cd.

Track 1. The Beginning - starts with a proclaiming voice in the background that preaches that in the beginning god created earth...let there be light and so on...very atmospheric sounds, very trancefloating vibes poure out of my speakers. After exactly one minute into the track comes the bassline, whizzling, twisted sounds starts to appear..Mmmm..ME LIKE!like they say in Thailand. Now starts a strange, kinda freaky voice mumble out words that at least i can't hear, very dark, very very..my kind of music.
All in all!Very good track in deed. (10/10)

Track 2. Missing Link - Starts with a voice, that at least for me, sounds like 1200mic's Salvia Divinorum...preaching about that how it is, the further you go, the bigger it gets. This track is totally different than the first, this is more, uplifting, pushing forward faster and faster. The perfect track on a train or on autobahn in a good car doing 200km an hour..this is very trancy, beautiful patterns to float away on. Very Morningish..if you know what i mean? In my opinion excellent track. (9/10)

Track 3. Cro Magnon - Enough of morning trance! Now they starts to speed up the tempo again...voices again, this time..Roosevelt (i think?) from the famous speach about the attack on Pearl Harbour, preaches in the background, dripppping wet sounds..with a nice pace, accelerating. Not as good as track no:1, but over all a good dance track. (8/10)

Track 4. Human Loop - Now what's this? Where have i heard this guitarre sound before? I'm sure someone will recognize it. After about a minute into the track it starts to sound like something Logic Bomb could have produced. Same kicking bassline..but not the ancious, mystic, unsure feeling logic gives me. not a bad track, but not one of the stronger ones. (7/10)

Track 5. Computerized - this track starts kinda mellowish, but about 1,45 into the track things starts to happen. Once again, this one's got Logic Bomb written all over it. I don't know if this is accidental but they must have used the same synthezisers or computers (i'm no DJ or musician?) over all a good track...without the breaks? (8/10)

Track 6. Al Hybrids - Starts very good! nice accellerating, uptempo...moving forward..faster and faster..kinda sound..Vocoders..(i thought i had enough of those!) One of the better track's..(9/10)

Track 7. Mutant Androids - Kicking,Punching, (Gallopperande in swedish) basslines, very full-onish..it's a track, like when you thought you had it...Oh no! not if Anders & Peter have something to say about it. In my oppinion Excellent track...(9/10)

Track 8. Future Evolution - This one!..i know at least where i come from(Sweden)..Will be played on high rotation on outdoor parties. This is in my opinion the albums strongest track..starts with a slow, then slowly growing..faster..faster..very clean nice trancy sound..to have it's first break around 2,50 and slowly taking up speed again. This is Trance my friends! If you're into massproduced Israeli Full On? This is propably not your cup of acid, but if you like melodic waves to dance your self into trance to, this is the thing. Once again they use vocoders with beautifull result. Excellent track (10/10)

Track 9. Entering Nirvana - Well dont have so much to say about this one! i'ts a Surprise!! Chill track, nothing special..sounds like a million others, not bad! but nothing special..(6,5/10)

To sum this review up i'll say that i would give it an 8,5 on 10 points scale. If you like Logic Bomb? You would propably like this one, (not that they have copied Logic Bomb) No!..this one stands on its own, but i'm sure you'll know what i'm talking about when you here it. Standout-tracks are in falling order 8,1,2,7

Please feel free to comment on this review..

All politics aside, this is a nice album. The Missing Link and Future Evolution are instant favourites of mine. The sound here is very much like Logic Bomb with a bit of a groovy and epic twist to it (less digital noise). Some albums suffer from simplicity whereas this one may benefit to some extant from the clear sound picture. Fans of melodic psychedelic sounds should take note!

well ... i don't really like this album ...
the production is not really great , the rythmic and dynamic is really poor ,and the sounds used( synths +kicks ...) are also quite cheap IMO
that's too bad because some ideas are quite cool , but it lacks of maturity for sure
that's just my opinion, hope noone will get ofended
