Never written a chord progression for a trance track personally
Then again, I am also seeking more 'musicalness' in my tracks so don't take that as advice to not do progressions If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

To experiment with chord progressions you might want to make some non-trance stuff. It is easier to work with complex harmonies and breaking conventions when you do not have to make a "trance" track.
Personally I think Infected Mushroom should stick with non-trance stuff as it seems like that is what they want to do and most of their best stuff is that way. A trance track is really not trance if it is has three chords or more IMHO but do not let convention keep you down. |

i personally find it difficult to produce trance music wise, maybe this is why i don't try anymore, and went deep to downtempo
but for starters if you want to play with chord progression while your bass is going kbbb on the same key, lets say A, you can try building a progression of chords where A is involved - just theoretical example which might sound like shit would be ACE ACE ADF CFA.
experiment with all possible chords with a involved and then build nice progression out of them. Its the cheapest possible way to do this

Ya thats wat i been doing and it sounds good.. but it kind of became a formula for me. like a rock song; intro, verse, verse, chores , verse, chores and end.
I saw one artist write his tunes on Indian raga.. which was sounding very good.. and complex.. He was not using much eq or compressor.. just making harmony to fit with one another.
