I have been playin around with the chopper which is found in cubase...
Found that i could make some good fx with it, but have been kinda stuck with the horrible click sound which it makes.
im looking to process a series of sounds with so that they sounds gated...
I have been following many of the side chaining posts which have been popping up lately, and have also tried to do this instead of simply using a chopper. Unfortunately i cant seem to get the side chaining done in Stereo... apparently following the guidelines for waves C1 one would use a "mono" kind of way of chaining as the audio is split into right and left channels... sounds good and is usable... but as i am a newb at sidechaining i would like to know how to do this in stereo, or use the
chopper so it doesnt click... (I know u can use a sine wave for chopping which would kil the click but i rather like the saw preset. )
Hope u guys can help.
cheers |

hey there aiyro
try with this mgAudio plugin called TriggerGate which lets you modulate the intensity and the hardness of the chop effect, so you eliminate those ugly clips from the waves cutting.

to have a stereo sidechain you need the TC Native Bundle. it has a pretty simple sidechain system. example: for the kick and bassline, add the TC Sidechainer to the kick as an insert and the TC Compressor\Desser to the bassline. open the compressor and activate the Key Input... voila ! |

Thx a lot for ur posts,
cant wait to get off work to check out TriggerGate. cheers z1P^.
e-motion: I bought the Otium FX compressor a while back and found a video tutorial for it... When i do what they do in the video, i hear no effect... As a compressor it kicks ass, but the TC sidechainer sounds real easy to use, plus TC says it all.
Not to be cheeky but does anyone have any info on how to set up a a compressor in stereo???

Hey Aiyro!
Have u tried using the MIDI-Gate in Cubase instead ??. I think this one makes a better fx on the sound, I found it hard to sync properly with the Chopper...- With the MIDI-gate u also avoid the clicking sounds more easily..(by adjusting the attck and release..)
all the best!
