I use the Alesis ones myself, and my room is slightly bigger than yours. I'm really happy with those. I used to use them in a 17m^2 room before, and they were even better there I think. I havn't checked out the other ones so I can't say much about those ...
The best thing would of course be to check them out yourself, but as you said you can't do that ...
Good luck

I use the samson and i love them, but i can't compare to the other, coz i don't know these.
If u get samsons then get the resolv65a, they are killer for their price.
Peace

I have the Samson 65 near-field active monitor and I think they are very good.
I lot of guys will say "don't buy these ones, buy Genelec, Mackie etc.", BUT HEY DUDE, these Genelec's and Mackies are very expensive for non-profissional producers!
What do you prefer: 1. buy hi-top Genelec and use them with FM7 OR 2. buy Samson 65a and JP8000 for the same price?
I heard Alesis are good as well.
Tannoy has budget lines and hi-top lines, and a lot of famous trance producers use Event 20/20.
But don't buy small near-field monitors like Samson 50a (you should try the 80a model). The bass (below 100 Hz) doesn't sound so good on small ones.

Only tried the Alesis and Tannoy, so I can't really say.
But the Tannoy's is amazing IMO, and I would prefer them over Genelec even.
Very round and full sound and not as sharp and tireing to listen to as many other monitors, but sill very detailed.
I'd say you can't go wrong with those at least.

i'm really confused by now.
...from what i see all this monitors have their supporters... wich is great!
I think i'll buy the alesis mk2 active they used by some semi-professional producers (people with gigs, released tracks and the like) so they must be up to what i need.
Off course that alone isn't enough, tastes differ, etc... but i'll have to make up my mind.
Thanks for all the input.

Yeah, that's the point! They are good for the money and budget monitoring. It's possible to make good mixing with them, and it will sound great.

I've gone with the Alesis m1 Mk2.
I'm really enjoying them, my productions now got more bass and got much louder!
Also, i've been hearing music almost like a religion since my 13/14 years and there was so much detail in music i hadn't notice before.
Squarepusher for instance... it didn't make sense since last monday
I'm also enjoying a lot of psyacts i didn't really care about because i couldn't hear all the spectrum.
This weekend i'll be changing my furniture position to better place the monitors away from walls and from my head (i've been hurting my ears this week since i've been to close to the speaker).
The Alesis are very good... i should have got them 3/4 years ago when i was starting to produce (i've always been known for making the wrong decicions, lol) and now most of the stuff i've been doing can be thrown away because... the sound simply isn't there.
Off course i can't say their better than the events tr5 or the reveals because i dont have all of them to compare, but the alesis sure sound nice.
Only my metal recordings sound worst now, mostly because of the bass being overlooked, i think. My dyeing bride still rocks but that must be because they've got so many guitars tuned to C and B that they've to care about the lowend bass :>
Still, thanks for the help in choosing my monitors!

I have the Alesis and it's really good for tha price.
I use to work on a Sanson(house of a friend) too but it's the 50a and i don't like the sound that comes from.
But like people say it's your taste.
What i can say from the Alesis is that has a good low freq response. |

For an eletronic music home producer i sugest you to buy a Samson 65a speakers and a Samson Woofer 120a.
I have this and i like. If you cant spend your money on a woofer you can buy the Alesis with a good bass response.
The Genelec, KRK, M-Audio have a little better mid harmonics response. Is an agressive sound for your ears when you are producing and I don´t think is essencial for a e-music home producer.
If you have doubts, go to a music store and compare all them. |
