I have a fair bit of psy chill but not much of it is currently agreeing with my wifey who is due to give birth to our first child in early May.

She likes from my collection:

Ishq - "Orchid", "Sama", "And Awake" & "Lotus" albums.

Cell - "Hanging Masses" album

Shpongle - "Dorset Perception" only this song from all of the Shpongles releases.

I'm thinking of lashing out for the two Elve albums in digital format, how similar are they to Ishq? Are they mor eorganic sounding or spacey & digital?

Any other tips? it doesn't have to be psy, and if there are legal free releases you think would suit even better (I refuse to download illegally).

Cheers

man you have priority issues! birth is a pretty hectic experience..its not chill out session by any means. it can get messy and noisy and stressfull. you will be concentrating on breathing, pushing, calming etc...prep yourself for this.it is a humbling experience. if i had to have music..make it simple..soft and rich in melody.. ishq is a good choice..the elve is could be a bit to out there..consider stuff outside of the chill arena e.g. satie ..After your baby arrives, then the fun begins, babies love music...and you can use music to calm them..once again melodic music..my kid (4now) hates most of my music (i listen to too much drone) but she enjoys upbeat stuff, melody and rhythm e.g. belly dance/dakini. good going with your birth.

Oh right so you know after 6months of seeing specialist, attending prenatal classes, reading and having a doula you have so enlightened me by saying that this time will not be a chillout session.

So when my wife suggested I ask on hear about music on her behalf I should go back to her and tell her that some bloke on the internet told me that she should just be more aware it's going to be really stressful and messy and painful and psychologically difficult and that she should get her prioties right?

Coz that's exactly what a woman who is in her third trimester, full of hormones, aching all over and is desperate for some more relaxing music wants to be told isn't it?

"Oh don't try and chillout darling, STRESS STRESS STRESS STRESS STRESS!!!!!!!"

because we all know that that'll be wonderful for her health and the unborn baby yeah?

hehe, you have some nice musical choices there , we were lucky with a short cesarian birth so I made up an hour long mix with some Ishq Gus Till , AlucidNation , Ashirvad, Nodens Ictus, Doof etc ..

our son Luca Oak was born to the beautiful track 'Thursday Island' by Gus Till .
I'd say stick to mainly beatless stuff and you can't go wrong

Good luck !!

sorry..didnt mean to upset anyone..speaking from my experience this is natures course..stress is natural and part of human survival ..i almost fainted at one point. birth is no walk in a park...recently home birth activist Caroline Lovell died during childbirth.

anyway back to the topic..

if i had to choose one album it would be
Monsoon Point CD by Al Gromer Khan and Amelia Cuni..her voice is heavenly.

I know my friend that it's no walk in the park. My wife's mother died giving birth to her & she (my wife) has cerebral palsy all due to errors made by medical intervention during her birth.

This is why I have spent so much time & money to ensure my wife has the lease possible stress and anxiety.

Anyway thanks all for the tips, we cannot wait to start our family.
