What in your opinion make the chill out area more attractive ? Usually there are just a few people in the chill out area , no matter how good is the guy playing, but I see so much potencial on that sound and enviroment ...just wondering what is everyone else opinion about it...
Has anyone tried something really creative and innovative that worked ?

In the UK there is always more than a few people in the chillout area. Sometimes you can even find more people in the chill area than in the main room!
ID Spiral are well known for pulling in huge crowds - they now do one of the most popular stages at the Glade Festival (the UK's biggest). To learn from them, you'd have an army of fluffy workers, beautiful, artistic constructions and decorations (their areas look like art installations), a large cafe selling really yummy organic veggie food - both hot and cold, savoury and sweet, plus hot and cold drinks... performers, speakers, a massage and healing area, and a line up of the best chill out acts and DJs you could possibly lay your hands on.
How's that?

if the chill area is not simply an afterthought, that is a good start

sadly, in my country, the new habit is namin the chill as second stage, and when you go here, want to chill down for a while, and then you notice, there are many ppl dancin to progressive, electro, and house tunes.... it's awful...
okay, we still have partys with great chills, but far not as many as 2-3 years ago for example..
and, yeah, i was at Twisted Records Bday, and Id Spiral chill was really amazing, i hope they don't mind if we try to copy some of those decos
so, ppl always need a place, to chill down, to relax, to talk each other, while they refreshing Themselves... even if they are only 10 or 20 ppl

Well...I try to play music interesting enough to keep the people there, kinda challenging the ''dance-floor'', make an alternative floor rather than a sleepy room, of course it's not always possible and it depends on many things like timetable, previous act, crowd vibe and so on
My fake plants died, because I did not pretend to water them.

Great... as long as the DJ doesnt end up that dreaded thing - the chillout room DJ who really wants to be playing in the main room. I'm all for mixing up tunes - and even have people dancing in the second room at the right time - but if you want trance - go in the main room!

Not at all mate, on the contrary the goal is to keep'em there havin' it without going anywhere near trance...check one of my sets and you'll see what I mean

someone know the "totally-Dj" concept.....well these is a description.....the totally-dj concept is when a Dj play music in a place as creadted by himself.....the dimension of sound, the dimension of visuals....the dimesion of smells....etc...etc...&.....etc.
create your own slides....and proyected it on the walls, showing your imagination....envolving your listeners on your interior world.
play your favorite traks
and trance-ported your listeners to your interior world....
I try to make these only in 3 or 4 times in 6 years .
when it hapend is fantastic
regards juan m4th....I ´m still workin in my psychedelic research lab.
