Chicks on Speed, Christopher Just and Douglas Gordon present, ART RULES, the newest
of the new singles, from the forthcoming Chicks album. Christopher Just (a long time
COS producer) with fine artist Douglas Gordon, team up with COS to create this very
Arty Anthem, at a time when ART seems to be having its renaissance. With “Art Rules”
Chicks on Speed and newly recruited members (Anat ben David, A.L. Steiner, Kathi Glas
who participate in COS Art related projects) are headed into the belly of the beast by way
of an ironic anthem listing the ups & downs of the glorified fifth-largest industry of the
world. Something mistaken as culture, called art. The tools are a reference to mid
nineties Euro-hit music, a collection of familiar art performance elements, feminist
statements compiled into a contemporary performance piece switching between pop
clichés & intense art performance. Some things everyone knows but doesn’t talk about,
some things are readily seen but never together sharing the same stage.
