Welcome to New Earth is the debut offering from South African producer Chemogen (Aviv Hallale). A four track digital EP showcasing his tendency toward powerful basslines and groovy percussion, the release is a striking example of what has led to Chemogen‘s increased popularity in his native Cape Town. Always with a sense of the surreal, Hallale describes the work as ‘a journey through the grime of a dystopian future’ and that sums it up pretty neatly. Chemogen‘s comic book sensibilities and intellectual leanings are apparent in every track, and the album presents a sound that is not a typical regurgitation of other work, but is unique to the artist in question.
