It's an amazing concept, being able to clone all those hard to find vintage eq's. It worth every penny for those crazy ppl who search for them.

i think that taking that idea and actualy implementing it is quite amazing,
it opens some doors to other "imposible"
ideas... |

It is IR, but it's not a converter, it's a tool to make impulses instead of reading them... Since it's easy to use, and doesn't require professional recording equipment i consider it extremely cheap for what it does... |

But does it really work? I mean does it sound just like the Manley Massive Passive EQ you just cloned? I doubt it. Its just like every other piece of software or hardware (Liqid channel...) that emulates somthing analog and expensive - it just needs the last something. But ofcourse this could be an exception... |

No AvS it works. Look u can already use IRs of almost all hardwares and i think me and u couldn't say what is made with IRs or with the real hardware.

When it comes from Waves, I'm sure it sounds better then the original.
now the only problem is how do I get those IR's for the Manley and all the other classics ?. |

to make them yourself, u'll need a program to make impulse responces, a recording device and an audio playing device.
U send a blip through the device, the blip has to contain all the frequencies.
U then record the blip. De impulse responce maker will then be able to make an impulse responce with the difference between the original blip, and the blip after it passed through the device (ex. manley massive passive).
That impulse responce can then be loaded in an impulse responce converter (like SIR or IR1) to apply it to any sound you want...
It WILL sound EXACTLY like the real thing (if u did everything right), but u can't change the settings ofcourse, the impulse recorded the effect in one setting, and thats the only setting possible with that impulse, so if you want to change the setting, you'll have to record an impulse for every setting u want to use (most of the time people only take the presets, like from the lexicon960SL)
but for the manley and most other famous gear there are already impulses on the net with all presets. |
