I have been playing around with this for some time now, trying to figure out the sound from my new monitors.
I would really love it, if someone could take a listen and see if anythings is off (soundwise)

im at the office (so not on monitors), i think the bass is missing in the mix, its too empty down there (around 100-200Hz maybe) , a solid sticky bass with more booming lows would sit perfectly here and as i listen to the track i imagine a SH or TB crunchy bass sound would sit harmonically perfect with all these sticky sounds you got there (but maybe would mask the saw melody)..
nice one

maybe the bassline feel empty on small speakers cause it s low, maybe try to boost it around 100 i dunno...here on my adam p22 the mix sound good (maybe a small resonance on the lowend make it not that clear ) |

Thanks for the replies. I have been very careful about the low end, because in my previous work, it always seemed like I had way too much bass.
But I have tried to highten the low end around 100-120 hz now.

@ PoM : That small resonance, you have any tips on how to deal with that?
Cheers

i think it s around 55/65 hz i removed around 3 db with a eq to check and it was sounding a bit clearer
in the test 2 i think you boosted a bit too much |

Bass is too subby for sure as well as having a bit too much emphasis on the main note of the lead and not enough on the overtones - causing some lack of stability in perceived volume at times. I'd suggest perhaps using some dynamic EQing prior to the compressor to deal with the resonance issues.

I think hi-passing bass at ~30 Hz or maybe even makin it quiter -2 db will do the job. Usually bass fits the kick if the bass is a little quiter than kick, in your loop it's opposite. Nice groove overall

@ Kaz : I'm not sure I understand what you mean. But I'm using 3 different basses.
1 Sub bass, playing from 20hz - 120hz
1 Mid bass, playing from 100hz - 300hz
1 High Bass, playing from 250hz - 5Khz
Also I have a limiter on the master channel, maybe that's the one cutting off some volume?
Also I only use a compressor to sidechain the basses to the kick, no compressing on the basses seperate.
@ Medea :
This might be a really stupid question, but what do you mean by hi-passing the bass at 30hz? And how do I do that?

put an EQ on it and cut away frequencies below 30 Hz (let the frequencies above 30Hz pass). GlissEQ will do the job very well.
