As Drunken Monk said, don't buy anything from creative. Their cards are intended for gamers although they're claim it's for professional use too. For example, on Audigy you can only record in 48khz, anything else will be horribly low-pass filtered at 5khz, for no any good reason (at least on my card). This also means that you cannot record optically from minidisc, because minidisc is 44,1khz. Well, you CAN record, but there is a weird zipper sound in the resulting recording...
For making music you need a card that has high quality output, maybe some inputs if you have audio gear or want to record vocals and your own sounds and low-latency asio drivers. Forget any EAX, multimedia etc support. You don't need that.
I'm sure guys here can guide you. But just stay away from creative, k?  |

E-MU is bought by creative, but they still make excelent quality and cheap soundcards. I own 1212m, and i'm so far completely satisfied.

well, 'technognosia' is actually an often used greek word...
if u like the way it sounds, let me inform u that the greek language is full of such words.. bad thing greek ppl don't understand their beauty nor their use.

Yeah... M-Audio Delta 1010LT as someone mentioned... Should be a good investment. Its not that expensive and its a good toy.
I believe that sometimes its better to save a little extra money and buy something good. If not you probably go buy a cheapest card and in 6 months you wanna change it cause you feel like using whatsoever it doesnt have, or cause you are having problems...
By the way... Im assuming you make music. And dont just want a card to play games... If so, this is not the forum to ask I guess.. Cause everybody will recomend professional stuff. |
