Hi guys... i really dont know if this is a stupid question... hahha
but i never had to do this before on logic...
and i looked it over on the program and found nothing on it....
im not a cubase user and i found easily on cubase a section where i could choose the vst folder i wanted cubase to look for the plugins (i had to work with another artist on a cubase project on distance).

anyway... anybody knows where is this function in logic ?

hope i was clear about my problem.

thanks a lot dudes

the vstplugins dir should be only in logic's dir.
if you want, you can make a shortcut of vstplugins to another place - but the shortcut must be in Logic's dir.

i dont undestand you reply trip

shortcut ?
in what would that help me ?!

the problem i have is now backwards....
i will work on a pc that has cubase instaled, and all the vsts are on the cubase destinated folder....
if i install logic there is anyway to make the program use the same vst folder that cubase is using already ?

i assume by your answer that is NO.
but just to make sure....
i think i wanst so clear on my first post

The shortcut way is the only way, but it should work... like you said, copying the .DLLs doesn't work becuase the registry keys need to have everything in the initial install directory. So...

open the location that contains your cubase VSTs folder (C:Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase SX)

right-click on the VSTplugins folder, select Send to -> desktop as shortcut

on the desktop, rename that new shortcut folder VSTPlugIns. Double click on it, it should open + take you to where your Cubase VSTs are

If you haven't already, install + boot logic + setup the audio driver you're going to use. Quit Logic. If your audio driver is installed correctly, Logic should have created an empty 'VstPlugIns' folder in (C:Program Files\emagic\Logic 5)
open that directory, DELETE the empty VSTplugins folder in there

now move the shortcut folder from the desktop into that logic folder. You just replaced an empty VST folder with a Shortcut to a FULL VST folder elsewhere.

There should now be a shortcut folder in (C:Program Files\emagic\Logic 5) called VstPlugins. This shortcut points to where your VSTs are and fools Logic into thinking they're in the local logic folder. Boot Logic and verify it initializes the VSTs. If it doesn't, re-read my hastily typed instructions and see if you get the idea of what I'm talking about. If you still can't figure it out, scream curses at me + PM me with specifics of what happened.

You are fooling Logic into thinking all your stuff is installed in the emagic folder... to finally answer your initial question, Logic 5 CAN'T choose where your plugin folder can be (Weak!)

The shortcut thing should work if everything is named perfectly. if it's named "Shortcut to vST" or "Vst Instruments" or whatever it won't work, it will only work if "VstPlugIns" is contained inside (C:Program Files\emagic\Logic 5)
