hello guys ,

recently ive been sending my tracks to various labels across and the most frequent and over used replies are as follows ...

1. i like it bro , but sorry its not my style ....

well , if my music is not the labels stlye nuthin much can be done abt it ...!

2, the track is good but u need to change X / Y / Z in the track , before i can take it ...

so my question to all the artists that released here is ....

did u guys ever change some part of the track , because the label told you the same thing ? or u guys manage to release a track jus the way u make it ... ?

and how right is it to change some of your music according to some label manager;s whims and fancies , only to get it released ?

need help on this ... further more ,

is releasing tracks really a hasslie i see it ??? or is there an easier way out ?

most of the label managers are cool , but they work in their own time zone .. and by the time they can tell u something abt buying the track .. its already 2-3 months and tht track is already old by now !

any of such experinces ?? and answers to these problem to upcoming talented guys , who having problems releasing .. !!

keep all the help comming !

thank you ,

respect .. chandan !

I have never been in a situation where I had to change things for a label. I personally wouldn't change a track for any reason besides my own reasons. If a label doesn't want to release that particular track, I am certain that there are other labels that will. I have had tracks rejected by a label before and I ended up sending it to another label and it got released...

Releasing tracks on labels doesn't have to be as big of a hassle if you are writing music for the sheer enjoyment of it. If you are writing music so it can be released, so you can get money or attention... it will probably be a hassle. Just let the labels come to you and use the internet to assist you getting your music out.

The track is only old if it gets out , or you play it to death... but even then there's probably a good amount of people that still haven't heard it... and even if they did, that's ok...
As a producer you listen to your stuff soo much that you grow tired of it... That's something that has always bugged me, but what I tend to do is occasionally play a set without any of your own music in it...

Just keep on writing, use the new tracks forum to garner some interest, and be patient. These things take time to get right. More people rush into this stuff and end up burned out or not evolving because of whatever hype they believe about their music. Making music should be just as enjoyable as eating your favorite flavor of ice cream.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Make trax for youeself, the way u like'em, and one day ppl will show their interest of what u do...

Look for labels that fit to the style of your trax, not just to any label u'll find across your way...

And yes, if a label wants to release a track of yours that somehow appeared in the net, maybe changing a couple of stuff in order to be released a bit different is not wrong.
But not changing your style because a label wants it to...

here my opinion:
you can learn a lot by label managers and artist directors. you can have really good advices from them, just try ( if you want! ) to make same rmx of your track and see what happens. Personally I really like to do more version of the same track, but there are some artist that doesn't like it. opening your mind to label manager opinions can be really good to me, often they are really into the music and often they are good djs too. so why not?? the main point to me is that 'I do it as I like to do' that's my way.

I've had a request to just bring the bass level up, which isn't that much of a hassle. Besides that, no other changes requested.

Sometimes lables A&R has a point in what he says and sometimes he doesnt have a point..

It is up to u to decide if his ideas are cool or uncool for u to implement on your track. About 'Easy Way' man there is no 'Easy Way' in art as far as I am concerned. If all u do is look for 'Easy Way' then I can understand why after 3 months the tracks grow old... Seriously now, if u make it from the heart and invest time in making it will be suppppa !!           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

as far as production aspects for a track go , it makes sense ... if the eq is not right or the production level needs to go up ... im really kool with that ....

but thats not the problem i face now adays , coz thankfully my production really sounds pro now

but other than that , its right to believe in my art and make music just the way i want it to be and in due time i should find some label , that think on the same frequecny as i do .... and things should flow ...

however , it was really nice to hear from you guys .. other artists also please post your experiences ....

thank you ,

well, it depends on what has to be changed. if you got some voices telling something about drugs or something like this, i would understand this. any changes regarding your theme or arrangement, no chance, find another label!           www.daydin.com

seems like they just didnt like your sound and try to explain you with smart words. but this means not that you should leave it.
you should be happy, because the a&r shows interest. man, its very good that they give you the chance to re-edit the track. this is much better than no answer. as a beginner, you should take care about your contacts and try to do what the a&r tells you.
later, you are able define your own style with a lot of skills and you know how the game is played. but now, get in touch with people, which give you a chance.

yeah .. i understand what ure trying to say mantik ..... but the situation is ....

most labels lissen to a track on a comparative basis and then they tell u , u sound closest to artist X / Y ... and we currently release music of artist Z ... so maybe if you could do something like that , we can taje your music ....

HELL NO ! ..... i didnt start making music to sound like artist X / Y .... or later emulate how artist Z sounds ... just like my personality is different , so is my music .....

this comparative analysis is the most frustrating ...

once my music comes into the market .. how even different it may sound , im sure sooon my music will also become a benchmark that labels will then tell , other upcoming artists to emulate ....

i seriously think ... this psy trance industry need to open up a more !

thank you .

Yes like CHP sais, make your own style and people will show their interest of what u do for sure.If some label wants u to change some part in the track then do it if u have a big wish to release it.That's the way it goes.Keep it up and don't stop
Wish u all the best bro!

@wave
seems like you choosed the wrong labels, when they tell you to sound like artist X. i understood that they want to improve some elements in your track, but not a complete style change. what you now explained is a different point to a change of the production.
if they want to change your style > leave them.
if they want to improve your production > stay.
