so i posted a track on here some days ago and got comments as to the bass being to high. so i first pitched it down an octave, did not fit the track well.. then i just pitched everything including the kick down 9 semitones and i really like the whole thing much more! i guess i am just being silly to even mention it but for me it was quite nice to see the difference

and as i never read a topic about that here i thought i will just post it, maybe someone can try that as well.

example before:

example after:

some sounds have been added in the latter version but all in all its more or less the same midi but feels quite different.

what do you think?           http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel

I think the pitched down version sounds better too !
It probably has to do with the fact that when you pitch down a sound, it becomes more low (logical I guess), and it also sounds deeper, with more body to it, that's maybe what your kick and bass lacked..
Down pitching is often a good solution to fatten a sound !

(That said, maybe you can put a Hi-pass filter on your kick to cut everything below 30hz, because pitching down a kick 9 semitones down is quite extreme, you risk having extreme low frequencies playing that will in the end kill your mix..)

no real pitch shifting going on actually. the whole track was in midi still. so i just marked all midi notes and pulled them down. i guess pitch shiftin waves for 9 semitones would sound awful but i might be wrong.

and the kick is in battery so i was easy to detune it with batterys controls           http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel

Second version is da BOMB!

It is exactly what I meant with the bassline in my previous comment on the original. The lowered key gives more darky feeling with more sub-bass added.

Great work!
