My monitors are Esi near 06, this weekend went to a friend's house and he bought the KRK VXT6 and i loved the sound, so i started to think i should replace my monitors, i don't have that much money and i'm considering even going for the 5 models around 170/190 euros, what model/brand should i look for? Is this a stupid ideia?

Monitors are not supposed to sound great. They are supposed to give you a good representation of what you are doing. Are the KRK's better in that sense than your Esi's?

Apparently Wizack Twizack made 3 albums on the Esi near 5's so think again before you make a decision.

on thomann.de there is also a wide range of b-stock or costumer returns that cut down the price

if you loved the sound it don't mean much tbh you need to use the monitors for some time in your room to really know if it worth it. even when you listen in stores it dont mean much , just 50 cm diffference postion between monitors can affect considerably the frequency response making it hard to really judge the sound like when using in your room |

sure room mater a lot, to tell you how much it matter i have a few pairs of monitors there, if i put them at the same place in the room, it sound very close to the point i would probably not do anything different when mixing, or just little.. and the pairs are from different brand ! (but in same league/same price range)
when i was using the focal and adam as nearfield one pair was totally usless.. there is never a suprise when checking cause the monitors get colored a bit the same by the room (these speakers have freq response like +2/-2 or +3/-3 from 50 to 15000 or maybe more ,it s very little compared to how a room can color the sound ).. these are in the same league thougt, if it was a low end speaker vs the adam the difference would be bigger ofcourse. |
