What do you mean radio messages?
Make it sound like on the radio?
Most modern radios sound really good, so I guess you're looking for an old radio feeling. I recall a Cubase effect had it, making it sound "lo-fi".

eq and overdrive are a very good start
however, you will want to get a very very extreme eq, to the point that it is actualy probably better to use a filter (unless u happen to have an eq with very steep clinical slopes). i'd recommend the grm bandpass its perfect for this task. bandpass from about 800hz to about 8000hz, adjust to taste.
next a little bit of light overdrive or distortion will make it sound a bit "harsh" and lo quality. to get a more extreme "bad quality" effect you could also try reducing the bitrate, a touch of ring mod, etc.
i'd also add a touch of reverb send.
OR....... you might also want to look into the "izotope vinyl" which simulates the sound being from old, damaged vinyl - not radio, but it has a similar result. if u turn down the vinyl crackle/pops, but turn up the other params, you can get something pretty radio-like. |
