OK! I got that to work, but it is acting as if I just made 2 tracks and overlapped the FX. It doesnt seem like its actually using the output of synth 1 and putting it into the input of synth 2 |

On the audio channel for the first VSTi, click on one of the insert slots to bring up a list of plugins that can go in the slot. If you have a particular VSTi that installed but you can't see it in that list, you can't use it as an insert. If you can load an instrument into an insert slot, it will accept audio but you may have to trigger its envelopes with MIDI notes to get the audio to pass through.
You can send a MIDI track to more than one destination at the same time (eg. MIDI Out port or another VSTi) by selecting the other destination as a send on the MIDI track.
