Watch the demo movie - the quality of the time stretcher algorhytm is remarkable.

Obviously this is intended for more traditional studio music, but for the time and pitch stretcher alone... and the fact that it's available as a plug-in...

Anyone compared the time stretching to Ableton yet? It sounded great in the movie, but obviously that's not the highest fidelity recording.           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

For monophonic sources nothing beats Melodyne IMO. Ableton doesn't have the same formant-shifting capabilities, nor can you pitch-quantise a melody as easily or edit performance vibrato and transitions between notes. Horses for courses though - I wouldn't want to stretch a whole track in Melodyne but Ableton does a damn fine job of that.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

IMO, the best pitch shift algorithms are found on Eventide hardware effects (Orville, DSP4000/8000, Eclipse series). Melodyne comes behind Eventide, and the version 3 is able to handle polyphonic sources as well.
And yep, the audio quality from a processed source on Melodyne is awesome.
And wow, try to stretch at maximum any pad synth on Melodyne (I made a sample called "fractured - by Nyagara" using this tip).

Melodyne is far more than a timestrecher....

it does a whole host of other stuff, albeit it does timestrech , but i dont think from what i read recently that that was hte intention of the programmer directly

I just tryed Melodyne, it's very good and usefull tool.
But, don't get fooled about the Video tutorials..it's not that simple and perfect as it looks like.

They always use already modified samples to make you buy the product !

Muahaha !!           NEW ALBUM OUT SOON !!!

Yeah.. hard enough to deal with, so when you use its possibilities fully - it's a great thing! So GUI is terrible///)))           It's time to kick ass and chew bubble-gum, and I'm all out of gum...
