This is more of a questions to DJs. We all know that CDs can scratch easily depending on how we handle them.

latetly we've been talking about our number of cds and our rare albums, and IMO a party especially festivals are really harsh on CDs.

So have you guys ever thought of actually buring ur albums into blank CDs? I know their is a issue of quality their, but is their a way of keeping ur original cds home and safe while playing in a party with cd-rs but still with the same quality?

I'm not a dj, but i can imagen that cds must get scratch veeeery easily if not taken extra care in parties.           "Great things are only possible with outrageous requests." Thea Alexander

Its not so much the idea of scratching that bothered me about bringing originals to a gig - it was the seemingly inevitable theft of my binder that had me worried enough to burn every CD in my collection... as far as I can tell, if you use some good media and a good burner and keep the speed under 12x you'll end up with a fine quality burn to play out. Another advantage is that you can recompile 'filler' v/a's into CDs more to your liking... makes the space in your binder more efficient.

i do it all the time. if i have a cd that i love and i want to play it in a party i make a burned copy for my dj case.... easy isn`t it? as basilisk said... use a good burner and use x8 speed....
(that`s what the experts claim to be the best speed to burn audio, don`t know y is it so, but i believe them).           if u dig deep enough u just might reach the sky...

I never have ANY originals with me on a gig. Im also saving space by grabbing only the tunes that i play from each CD, and burning them...theres hardly ever more than 2 tracks that i would play on any CD, so i can fit playable tracks from 5 albums on one CD...

Yes, I think most ppl do backup copies, at least the ones I know...

The ones that don't always end up regreting it, when their cds start getting older and scratched
