I just bought an awesomely priced used Pioneer CDJ-100 that works fine, and I got another at no charge but he said there was an error, and this error is "E-9103." It powers up fine then a second later it reads that error. Then if I put a CD in it spins and the error goes away, there is the slightest clicking noise while its spinning, then "E-7201" pops up. The disc doesn't stop spinning, but the error still happens and music doesn't play.
In the manual, the first error (E-9103) says to be a MECHANICAL TIME OUT and the possible cause/solution is a Foreign object is stuck in disc compartment slot, remove it. The second error (E-7202) is TOC date cannot be read after 20 seconds, and the problem reads to be a scratched disc.
I was wondering if anyone has ever had this problem and what they did if they have. The cost of fixing it apparently outweighs the cost of getting another used one. But it would save me the money of spending another $100 on a cdj, so let me know if you have any advice or knowledge in this.
I unscrewed the plastic cover and blew some air through it to make sure the problem wasn't just some superficial dust. But didn't do much more for fear of doing further damage to a possibly easy fix?
I checked google and the such and couldn't find any advice. Thanks!

I got another CDJ to replace the pervious one, also used. I called a few repair places and the shipping costs and potential repair prices made buying another one seem like the better option.I spent more money on it hoping it would be in better condition, and it seemed to play fine when I first got it. In the past three weeks, I've been able to use it maybe three times and now I am getting errors for this one.
The error is a dirty disc error, and it only does it on about 20% of my CD-R's. But my other CDJ plays all of the CDs fine. I bought a lens cleaning CD with the little brushes on the bottom and nothing seemed to improve much. Anyone have much experience/advice? Or maybe this is normal with CD-Rs and my other CDJ is some super player.
I'd appreciate any and all advice again hopefully an easy fix... |
