I'll be in NYC & from what I can tell Tower Records is basically non-existent?
What place are there for EDM & metal?
Not pay, more like drum & bass and techno/prog?
Cheers

In America, we pirate music from overseas torrent havens and put them into our mp3 players and smartphones.
That's why Tower doesn't exist.

^^^haha, thats what I was thinking too. almost all the stores that sell new cds are closed and the ones left only sell the poppiest of pop records.
there's a whole mess of used cd stores scattered around greenwich village tho.
for dnb you've gotta go to Breakbeat Science

Get in touch with NYU geeks, they will bring you to some basement used records store where you'll find everything you need and more.
On a completely unrelated note: why would you go to that horrible city? |

I don't think he was asking about Mariah Carey's Christmas albums. |

well, if you think NYC is horrible, then you're probably like me and think all cities are horrible.
but as far as cities go, New York is pretty rad. There's a whole fuckload of shit to see/do/hear/eat/experience there, and you don't have to deal with any ghettos or major sketchiness if you're spending most of your time in lower & middle manhattan.
I would recommend renting a car for at least 1 trip out of the city...
Going to COSM would be a good excuse to go to the mid-state area, plus any psy person should make a pilgrimage here if possible.
The far end of long island (montauk, "the hamptons," etc) is a very beautiful ocean-side place to see as well. though you'd probably want to stay a night there, due to the time you'd spend getting out there (2-3 hrs with no traffic).
If you're feeling really adventurous, the drive from new york to Montreal is quite stunning, IMO. it takes about 6 or 7 hours though, so that would be a big commitment for a side trip. worth it, though, for the drive through the mountains and the kick-assery of Montreal.
