cd quality downloads?

Hi,
I've read the endless discussions about MP3 yes/no, record companies closing etc etc etc.
I also know that a lot of djs (rightly so) don't like the sound quality of MP3.
Even if I don't spin at parties I prefer the quality of cd music, and I prefer to buy original cd.
But times are changing and I think that record companies have to adapt to that.
Because I work in the music business (even if not psy-related) I came across to this news about hi-quality digital download service:

The service, called MusicGiants, is very interesting and causing quite a buzz.
I have to say that If a psy catalogue would be avialble I'd use it and purchase trax from it. I'm sure other people would do that too, including djs.
I would like to know the opinion of record companies/djs/artists on this forum.
It would be nice to know the opinion of the cd buyer...
I'm sure that MusicGiants won't change the P2P mania with illegal downloads, but certainly can be a possible answer to some of the problems that often arises on this forum |

I ain't buzzing at least and would never buy from a service like that.
Closed source DRM formats where presumably only a small margin goes to the artist....why pay money for that?
What players is compatible with the format they use, and do you like to buy in to MS new "security" measures being built in to Vista?
I think if they want people to buy they should not make the product inferior for the user on purpose.
Then people will go for the free and better alternatives, and who can blame them?
Gimme FLAC or APE like apparently for example saikosounds is planning to sell and I would buy some downloads for sure.
Or even better if labels start selling their own downloads to make sure that more money goes to the ones that should have them.

As always, if any label out there wants to talk about burning a custom CD-r with some of their backstock on it, they can PM me - maybe I'll find something I like 
It's all I can do while I wait a solution to the music buying problem of our times... why is it only MP3s being sold? 1998 is long gone.
