I read the topic here in this forum. However I dont succeed to do that. The midi learn vsts are fine but the old stuff + vanguard are the problem. All I need is assign a knob from the vst to my oxygen8, thats it. It was way easier in FL Studio.....
will anyone help me with that?

If you don't have a "generic remote" in the Device Setup menu, add one with the "Plus" icon.

Yours will not be set up like this at first. Delete all but 8 "Control names", as they will be pointed to a bunch of other stuff like mixer channels.

Rename them knob 1-8 or whatever.

Assign them to your Oxy 8 knobs by clicking on "Knob 1" at the top there, twisting the knob and clicking "learn" at the same time. The "Address" should change to reflect the correct CC number.

Down at the bottom, click each field and select from the popup window until it matches what's on the picture.

I'd tell you to copy everything exactly from the photo, but I have a Alesis Photon controller, not an Oxygen, so the Address numbers may vary, but everything else should be the same.

That really helped Aeon! now I know how to do that but there is a small problem. I assigned one resonanse knob to the first controller but when I twist it, the pan knob moves too. I searched in the next assigned knobs and no pan knob is assigned for the first knob? any idea how that thing happens? (offcourse I can reassign to a different knob, Im just curious to know why such thing happens)

youre my king AEON!

There must be some prexisting CC asignment, some instruments do a few automatically... for example, often VSTi's have one parameter that are already preset to respond to the mod wheel on most MIDI controllers.

Glad to hear it was of help... there was a similar photo posted on here years ago that helped me get started, but I think it's long gone, and was from SX1 or something when the panel looked very different....

The Cubase Generic Remote setup is a little tricky at first but makes sense once you grasp the concept. Be thankful - the doing the same thing in Logic is an absurd pain the ass that is so unneccessarily difficult and needlessly complicated that it boggles the mind. Or at least it was in 5.5.

I'm still kind of confused as to why an Oxygen 8 profile isn't included with Cubase, it's the most popular MIDI controller in the world... The Alesis is cool in that regard, that it has different profiles you can download from the Alesis website for sequencers and specific VSTi's.

At www.alesis.com in section Supporpt->Downloads-> Soft/drivers I found only special labels for presets, list of default presets, support file for FM 7 and file for Cubase LE . And I can`t find other stuff like presets fo different sequencers and VSTi`s. Maybe I not properly search or something else? Or one way possible: Push up my lazy ass and head and make this presets myself?
And one more question: can I use fo Cubase Sx 3 same XML file like for Cubase LE&
Thank you for yuor answer

Hey...
I have an Evolution UC33 Controller...
I tried loading the Cubase SX and VST xml's.
They didnt seem to be configured for my setup.
So I just assigned the faders to group channels.
Those xml files are good for a start but its so much better when you can tweak it out and configure it perfectly.
My suggestion program it yourself. I was lazy at first. Iv had this controller almost a year. Just recently programmed it with the presets. Best thing I ever did. Makes mixing a track so much easier.
Its a bit confusing and frustrating at first but its worth it Good Luck!

Hi Sound Surgeon...if you just bought the oxygen8 make sure to use enigma (free download from m-audio) to clear your presets of any unwanted CC assignments. also...appendix D of the oxygen8 manual should have the standard midi CC #'s so u can use that for reference. other than that u should be set using cubase's generic remote function...its a pretty powerful tool. good luck!           ~SPAWNmaster~

Aeon, maybe it was solipt1c that posted this picture,
http://www.dartrecordings.co.uk/genericremote.jpg
the pic is from nuendo...

i remember cause i started the thread, it was 2004..

still i havent cared much about the generic remote as i found out that i just had to change controll mode on my synth.. and then it responded to midi CC...

started a topic on this before - didnt get too many replies on it though, maybe someone here will be able to help.

has anyone managed to get the generic remote to work with antares filter in cubase sx3/nuendo3 ? it just does'nt show up in the list of devices, and i never had any problems with nuendo 2. It still is my favourite filter, but i need to be able to automate

Thanks.

There is some kind of a problem here. I succeeded doing what Aeon explained, but when I try to do that again, the Learn button with the knob tweaking doesnt do anything. The assignments to "Fader" 1-8 do not work at all, so I cant do anything now...
Any idea whats the problem?

Another question, can I erase all of those assignments in VST 1-16 and so on? Are they neccesary?
