So CBL are back with their first real album in almost a decade. Many were thrilled by the news. I was expecting big things after their last attempt at drones which was mediocre at best.
And I was wrong.
Look overall it’s sounds lovely but it just sounds like every other CBL album except the drones & Hydroponic Garden.
If they’d said this was a bunch of remixes or re-edits of samples from all their other work I wouldn’t notice the difference.
The same pads, the same rhythms, the same acid lines and the same pseudo robotic vocals.
It’s fine to have “a sound” but expand on it. This is mediocre at best. Do yourselves a favor & just stick to Hydroponic Garden and/or Interloper which IMO are the only essential CBL albums.

man..im having doubts now..im still waiting for my copy (2 months already)

I actually really like this album. At first I also thought its a bit formulaic, but the formula just works and I keep listening to it over and over. Its my favorite CBL album now for sure.
And 42° is the best track they ever did, gives me goosebumps everytime. That one is perfect!
