Capsula 'Yosi Shamay' last.fm artist page needs your help.

The band that "shares" the page with Yosi have such temerity that they created fake last.fm accounts to boost their play counts on their artist page and to vote down his pictures.

I'm not going to vote down pictures of the band because I don't feel that doing so is ethical. But I'm more than happy to vote up every single picture of Yosi.

I dunno. To be fair, the Argentinian Capsula has been around longer and has a larger following. Why not create a Capsula(2) entry, make peace with the Capsula(1) folks and ask them to leave a link to the Capsula(2) page right up at the top of their page? |

@ tech and herb, because they are inflating their numbers and votes on their pictures? Stuffing the ballot box so to speak.
@tech, I know chronologically they are the older band, but the issues with last.fm's scrobbler not being able to separate the artists to their own pages in the first place is a whole other can of worms being discussed internally on the website. The whole point of why I made this post, is because they are cheating. If you include all the play count boosting, Yosi is clearly the more popular artist on last.fm.

I want to thank anyone here who has helped contribute so far, Yosi is almost to the top.. I just had to flag the rest of the images because this band again, being spurrious, uploaded "official images" to the artist page, which is a violation of Last.fm's ToS when an artist shares a page.

No, I'm saying the "weapon" against spam is community. If you think community organizing is counter-spam, do you go to your town hall or city council and call them spammers?
How would you feel if it was your artist page and some douche bag was doing this to you, which could affect your exposure to new listeners?
These people are violating Last.fm's ToS left and we've I've already gotten most of their spam/ stat-stuffing profiles banned.

I do see that they (band or fans) are actively removing any mention of "our" Capsula in the artist description. I edited the page to reflect information on both artists. |

Yeah, I received a PM from a staff member today, they have already banned 160 profiles related to this group! I'm in communication to either get their votes and play counts removed.

I have been too busy lately but I already had contacted Last.fm and ask them how to solve this, and the answer is just too simple. It is like Techmonkey says, just create a Capsula2 profile. Same story for Discogs, there Yosi was first but then they tried to switch him to DJCapsula, no luck though I voted against it.
Here is what Last.fm says:
"Last.fm cannot currently distinguish between two bands of the same name and so
they end up inhabiting the same music page, resulting in their songs and
releases getting mixed up and confused.
We're working on this, but for the time being, the best way of remedying the
problem is to edit the artist wiki to distinguish between the two bands.
A good example of this is to be found here http://www.last.fm/music/Heavenly
You can also edit the track and album wikis to make it clear which artist they
belong to.

I just checked out the discogs issue, that's terrible. glad it has been sorted out.
with respect to last.fm, agree with mouka and tech monkey. better to take the high moral ground and create a new Capsula(2) profile for Yosi. then the issue will be done and dusted... |

They seem to be more concerned about how difficult it will be to do it than to just leave it in the shitty condition it's currently in. This should have been something fixed in the first year the website was up.
Yes, splitting artists to their own pages would resolve this situation and many other pages; but they are not going to do that any time soon. While they have banned over 160 profiles related to this group of unimportant losers from Spain trying to make a name for themselves; the damage to the artist page remains, Play counts grossly inflated and pictures voted up, Yosi's voted down.
Every day they allow it to remain is an embarrassment to last.fm image and basically a green light to any other douche bags who feel this is how your get popular and gain listeners.
It's no different than catching someone in the act of stealing, and then allowing them to leave with the stolen goods.
They STOLE the page from Yosi, and as far as last.fm is concerned so far, they don't care because they don't want to "take sides" as a staffer told me.
