hey peeps ,
i know there have been enough questions abt what the trance scene in canada is like. well im planning to move there in the near future and am just wondering if toronto is a good city for the scene - or do we have more psyheads on the west side........ my interests are mainly for labels and huge party organisers etc.
would appreciate anybody who can give me info on this etc

There is definetly more parties on the East Coast (Ontario - Quebec) then the west coast. I think there are more parties around Montreal then Toronto in the winter but Toronto has quite a few nice summer Outdoor events like Om festival, Harvest Festival and others. Not too many huge parties, most of them are quite small.
And the only canadian trance label would be Cold Groove from Toronto : http://www.coldgroove.com . The guys from cold groove also oragnise some parties they are having an outdoor one with Hux Flux in 2 weeks : http://www.blacklightactivists.ca |

I agree that east coast's scene is bigger, Montreal has a lot of outdoor parties in summer as well: Eons, Samadhi, Eclipse... , these are few of the upcoming Montreal parties. If you'd like more info check out www.psyfreaks.ca

Aaaactually... I would have to agree that there are MORE parties in Toronto and Montreal (the latter being the undisputed best city in the country), but over here in Vancouver(the only city worth visiting on the west coast) it's shaping up nicely! For the longest time we had a whole bunch of silly by-laws and such that kept mad crazy partying down to a minimum, and earned Van a reputation of being a "no-fun" city. But now, clubs are open till 4AM, with massive headliners like Seb Fontaine, Oakie n the like. Not to mention the huge events, indoor and outdoor, with the current fav venue being a whopping 120,000 square feet with a 9000+cap. AND the majority of the city's favorite genre is, of course, trance. With the last party I attended headlining Lange and Rank 1. Also in BC we have TONS of outdoor festivals, since the surreal beauty of the forrests and the mountainous terrain over here offer HUUUUGE amounts of rent-free party space, not to mention privacy like you wouldn't believe. I've even heard rumors of some people setting up little communities in the middle of the forrest, burning-man style, and moving around from spot to spot with their mobile open air festival in tow. If not to move, you have to check it out over here. The scene on this side has evolved to become a LOT different than anything else I've ever seen. Definately worth the trip. Peace. |
