i don't know much about BC, but out east Québec has a killer psy scene. there's a bunch of festivals that happen around the province all summer, and parties in Montréal all winter.

lots of great parties and great people in Québec           http://soundcloud.com/rob-vector

that was a cool article, thanks for the link.

I can confirm what they say about hitchhiking in Canada being relatively safe. its not like the USA; you'll see all sorts of regular people hitchhiking when you start getting away from the big cities. it really contributes to the pleasant vibes canada is known for.

i think out west in british columbia and alberta is where the psy scene is a bit more amalgamated, and thus larger (jam band hippie stuff), but not a lot of hard-line psytrance-only fests happening. like shambhala festival, for instance, has a trancer sub-community but has a much wider audience due to booking lots of live bands and such. maybe there's a bunch of hard-line trance fests happening out there that i don't know about, though, since i don't really know anyone in west canada and haven't been to visit; just my impressions from having been around trance boards/lists for a while.

ontario is alright for psy, but not the best. from what i can tell, there are a small group of enthusiasts but in general that area is better for electro, house, dubstep...more mainstream styles of EDM. i've got a group of friends in montreal who moved there from ontario because they say the trance scene is huge by comparison.

i don't know where they got their info about happenings in Nova Scotia, but if there is, its probably like 50 people tops, lol. Halifax had a good rave scene 10-15 years ago and then it all fell to shit like the rest of the city. also, when they had a rave scene, they were notorious haters of anything "trance." I've talked to some dudes from out that way who are into psy, but the population is so small that there is no real potential for regular events. again, I know a couple people who moved to montreal from nova scotia because the psyscene and life in general is so much bigger.

I know nothing about Manitoba, but would make an educated guess that its the same situation as in Nova Scotia.....hardly anyone lives there, so at most there's like 50 people who like psytrance enough to get involved.

Well .. having played at parties and festivals all around Canada for 10 years, it is my opinion that Montreal has the best and most consistent scene. We have about 6-7 purely psychedelic festivals per season and usually 1 to 3 parties a week. Toronto is pretty cool but less parties and recently less people then Montreal. But has a really cool community. Vancouver has action as well. But if you wanna blast every weekend.. Montreal is where it's at.           Bookings : Reptiloid@hotmail.com

my wife and i were talking about going to this...i was kinda iffy though, because the last time we went up there for a festival in september everyone seemed burnt out and totally spent from their summer of parties.

did you go to Pandemonium last year?           http://soundcloud.com/rob-vector

From the number of posts on the Pandemonium event page on facebook and the general level of excitement coming from people, I do not think people are burnt out at all... seems pretty full power to me... I would give it a chance (also its august, not september!)

hope to see you there!

The Psyscene here in Vancouver may not be the biggest, but we are a wild bunch alright, a lot of people with heart here! And the relatively small outdoor parties I attended and also played on (some of them) here this year were awesome!           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:
