interesting .. but believe me, the cd-r manufacturers wont let this happen .. even if its happening in canada, it cant catch on, what about all the other things people use cd-r's for ?

well, it's a goverment issued tax, so I think (hope) that the big companies like Sony, TDK, Memorex, etc. won't have to power to change this. What I really like about this is that ALL the earned revenue from this tax will go STRAIGHT to the artists coalition. I think it's a fantastic idea.
