Aeolian = Minor

All white keys starting from A

Aeolian is the name for a mode (look for music modes in wikipedia) and Minor is for a scale, basically modes were invented / discovered first then scales.

Personally I like the Phrygian mode and the Spanish Gipsy scale that goes:

C Db E F G Ab B C

I've been using it for a while and still discovering new flavors within... that diminished second is hard to master.

+1 for aeolian. natural minor just sounds so groovy - however, it seems to be all too common in psytrance these days.

gypsy and spanish scales are really cool. riffs in mixolydian mode can sounds fantastic as well, especially with implied suspended chords so it doesn't sound all too major.

hm, what else. look up variations on the pentatonic scale - for example, there are some oriental pentatonic modes that sound very exotic and yet still have that "fit over anything" quality of western major/minor pentatonic.

also, proper use of the diminished fifth can sound SO sick and psychedelic.

also, i guess intervals are also relevant here - i'll often use the 1, 6, 5 notes (i.e. C, Ab, G in c-minor) right in a row in the aolian mode, and they just sound sublime.           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

Try modulating scales !
It'll give your melody a whole new depth... and there will be more of a story throughout your track.
