Hi all,

I don't yet have an external soundcard but I have a nice pair of studio headphones. I would like to produce and mix with these headphones when working on my laptop.

But I don't get the option in Cubase to listen through my headphones. Even when I plug them in, it still plays through my PC speakers.

Any ideas??

Thanks!!

Pull out the pc speakers and plug in the headphone?

Go to your internal pc mixer and turn up the volume of the headphone and lower the pc speakers?          soundcloud.com/supergroover

Hi all,

Thanks for the response!!

I am using Windows 7. Headphones work as expected everywhere else in Windows. For example, listening to music, watching movies etc... Its only Cubase where the computer acts strangely and plays through its laptop speakers despite the headphones being connected...

Not sure how many of you all have Windows 7 installed but when you plug headphones in, you actually get another volume control just for headphone volume...

Here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing in Cubase:

Clicking Control Panel takes me to this screen.

Not sure how to make the headphones active...

Any ideas?

First of all, I'd recommend getting ASIO4All. It's a free windows ASIO Driver for when you don't have an external sound card. Works really good on latency. Try that and set the vst audio system to the ASIO4All... then see if your headphones work.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
