Ok, let's say we sorted out the kick and bassline eventually. Can somebody post some links or suggest a typical arrangement of snares, closed / open hats etc. Can't get that continous closed hat sound between kick - hat - snare! Please help! |

Try this:
Kick/Bass for 8 bars
Kick/Bass/Open Hat (on the .3's of a beat) for 8
Kick/Bass/Open Hat/Snare (On the 2s and 4s of a bar) for 8
Kick/Bass/OH/Snare/Hi-Hats (On every 16th for something industrially or experiment with placement for the pace you want, 8th notes are also good.)

Now you just need to make it interesting. Maybe reverse a snare here or there...Time stretch, cut up, process. Make it psychedelic. |

then send it to different buses with different fx. bounce. split every track into 1/32, rearrange it somehow, mute some parts randomly. use reverb. bounce. reverse. rearrange. split. mute. send thru tap delay with filter and pitch.
after that it will sound horrible probably. delete. make it again with other fx and arrangements.
not ment very seriously, but like this u create the most psychedelic freaked out percussion loops... |

also, dont "just add"...listen to the ruthym, play it with your hands or your mouth and then find some open and close hats and percs and try to remake what you did with your mouth and hands

Nice one xrust! So,next time we'l meet I'll bring some drums with me and we can have a go!It will be a bit difficult though at 150bpm, but still!Maybe Dim can help us!
Anyway, after experimenting found that you can put a closed hat on all 16 steps of a pattern and if you sidechain it to the kick you can get a similar sound to what i was talking about! However, i don't know what the impact on the dynamics of the track are!Perhaps I should get some advice on eq of the different elements of the rythum now! Thanks guys!Glad to be part of this forum! |
