Your opinion is a threat to young producers that require more skills and techniques to push ourselves further into the Sonic Field Gutter.
i hope no one gets tought by u mate - no offence but com on man how can u say that dude. Its like sayin that a compressor is only used for mastering

we like to surf the waves of the evolution (which includes the technological one too ) other like to stay in one place for years.
I think in the end we are speaking the same thing...
and yes if recently almost every decent EQ can operate in M/S mode I'm sure it is not just because of the mastering process (which is also totally right)
Also Mid/Side processing is used and have ben used for yyyeeeaaaarrssss, how many? 30-40-50 or more? and not just for mastering. for vocals, for guitars, keyboards...
Just nowadays everything is much easier to achieve and this way all of us have more time to really CREATE than loosing time and space in triplicating tracks, swapping fazes, etc...
Also, and please sorry for my long posts, there is so much Logic in this. Why have the same mono signal in two channels messed up with the stereo one, when we can have the mono information in One channel and the stereo information in another? There is so much logic in this so really once a person have tried extensively its benefits, it is almost impossible to reject them, right?
Hugs to all friends and keep tweaking the wheels of evolution people.
