Hi everyone how are you?

I´m sick of Logic 5.5 and I don´t want to switch to CuBase, so I´m thinking about switching from PC to Apple. (finally maybe?)

Do you think a Mac Mini 1,66GHz Intel Core Duo handle Logic 7 without "glitches"? Do you think it would need extra RAM, like 2gb? Does anyone have this setup?

Thanks a lot for all insights!

cheers.

PS: be aware that the harddrive's speed in the macmini is 5,400 rpm.

There are rumours of new intel powermacs that will be released later this year, if you can hang on a while i think this would be the best bet.
If not i would go for the macbook pro 2.16 ghz with the 7200 rpm drive with maxxed out ram (2gig)

There are some benchmark tests on this forum

It also seems that the mac mini is uncapable of Dual View support, which is kinda strange because it has the Intel 945g chipset with the gma950 graphic integrated.
On the Intel webpage is says this accelerator supports dual view.
People have come up with solutions such as using the Matrox VGA splitter - which is kinda lame since the system still thinks it has one big monitor attached.

@keyop: your link doesn't reffer to a specific thread ;/           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Cubasing is like Freebasing, just with audio.
Both cost more than you can afford, and leaves you sitting in a dark room with no life, craving for more.

Thanks for all points of views...
More would be appreciated!

Trip, whats the exact drawback on having lower RPM on the hard drive? Less samples being played at the same time?

The Dual support issue is big too because I wanted to screens, so what do you think about the apple macbook with 2ghz and 512ram? What more ram enables me to do exactly? Proccess more filters/vsts simultaneously. Thanks for the enlightment.
