sorry to burst your bubble, but dj sets are the norm in most of the electronic world... most big name breaks, house, and trance (outside of psytrance) acts don't even have live p.a.s. What you are paying for there is the track selection; typically dj sets are a) not drawn exclusively from the material produced by the artist, and b) include some unreleased material not avaible to anyone but the artist. Both of those conditions were fulfilled last time I caught a theivery dj set, resulting in very interesting set... its unfortunate that they didn't choose to mix, though.

generally speaking, you're right - but in the case of Thievery Corp, their live sets are incredible, with a real band, live instruments, drumming, dancing, etc.. I would def. go see them live - I actually think they're coming to Denver to do a live set soon. On the other hand, I am not a fan of their recent albums, so wouldn't bother seeing a DJ set from them.

I have mixed feelings re: live vs. dj from thievery... the dj set I saw from them had interesting tracks (mostly from other artists), but at times lacked even the mist basic mixing... like the track would run out, they would stop the sound for a second, then they would put on the next tune. Bleaugh. Once they got over that, it was pretty damn good. The live set I saw, on the other hand, suffered from bad sound... which was a killer. Given the choice, I think I would actually take the dj set.

have to say that this was the best festival ive ever been to all the music was psy. even the hip hopp was amazing. kinda glad it wasnt all psy trance, when younger brother finally came on it just made the end of the night even that much better. the security were scum they kept searching people and accusing us of having drugs,in the presence of a bunch of state troopers, which was kinda scary while i was tripping and did not have drugs on me.
but in all it was so nicce to hear diffrent psy music. still sckeched out. one love

sounds like just the place I want to be. Guess different people have different understanding of having a good time.           We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love... and then we return home.
