Hey,
I just got my place at Trinity Hall, Cambridge and I'll be starting in a years time. Anyone know what the psy scene is like there? Will I have to be heading back to london everytime I want to hear good music?
Incidentally in 20 days time I'm off to Israel for 10 months so i should get all the psytrance I need! I was theree recently and in tax free zones psytrance is half the price of London, its crazy. |

I think Cambridge has a small but healthy and growing scene.... there is psybernetic which takes place in the basement of the Red Cow pub near the corn exchange.... very hot and crowded but fun... and recently the promoter has started using part of the Junction (reasonable venue)..... well - once anyway.
Outdoor parties are also starting to happen. E.g. this evening!!! There's a good bunch of loony friendly people at the parties... which is the main thing i reckon!
On the other hand.... you'll definitely be popping down to london for the big nights.... you are not gonna get astral phoenix in cambridge i am afraid!!  i was at cambridge uni for 7 years and the main thing i did while i was there was go to the pub.

Wow... if I knew there was such a cambridge crew represented here I would have plugged my bands gigs there ;-)
Not exactly psytrance, although it is one of our influences, but quite a few psyheads that we know in cambridge came down and loved it...
did any of you go to strawberry fair?
(silly question i guess)
Btw in case you're wondering the connection I grew up and went to school/sixth form in cambridge, although I dont live there any more, my parents still do, so I visit quite often.

I ask because my band were on the Wigwam stage (a small one, kinda in the corner between the river and Victoria Avenue)... we played last, when it got dark, about 9:30pm am, had a really awesome set with about 1000 people there. So I was wondering if by crazy coincidence you saw it
anyway next year we are going on the dance stage (where dj vadim was this year) so I cant WAIT for that... honestly strawberry fair is one of my favourite things on the planet, its awesome

Once again, I'm impressed with how many .. well .. *swots* are into psytrance. Crazy that, eh? Handy though. Put your hand up if you spent your adolescence (and any time afterwards) revising!

Hey expea - I just got a place at Trinity and am starting there in a year as well - very relieved to know I will have a psychedelic neighbour to check out the scene with  . I guess if there's nothing on we could always shake the foundations of the colleges with some stomping full on  . I'm actually in Russia right now where the scene is also inexpensive and rocking.
