I start by writing what I do NOT want:
• Minimalistic music with hard beats and no melody
• Weird noises and harsh sounds popping up unexpectedly that hurt your ear
• Vocal based music
• There also shouldn't be any major change in the volume, just kind of floating at the same level through the whole track.
And what I'm looking for is... well the key words are calm and melodic. Calm means that you can actually chill out to the music, and not become disturbed by it at all. Just floating sounds and a cool atmosphere... and repetative melodies through the track, so it's kind of the same feeling through the whole track. Floating is a good word to describe it... music that makes one just float around in space (or somewhere else). Also it's a plus if the whole track has kind of a 'mystical' or 'magic' vibe.
Maybe this kind of ambient was more common a few years ago? (I'm not sure) But I don't care if it's old, I don't care if the production is bad either... Maybe what I'm looking for is more towards New Age? Well, I don't care what you call it, if it just meet my preferences.
Well if you kind of got the feeling what I'm looking for, please write some recommendations for me. Otherwise check out the examples below. Mark though, those are just examples. If you find something that are maybe not so similar to those, but you still think it may be what I'm looking for, then please write them anyway.
Examples:
Vangelis - Blush Response (2 mins into the track)
Crystal Moon - Silent Pool
Nor Elle - Silent Storm
Tangerine Dream - Love On A Real Train
Optic Eye - Blue Dreamers
Oh this became a pretty long post, sorry about that. In the night I can just keep on writing forever. And I should stop now.
Just one more thing: all help is appreciated. Thanks

Hey Goblim!...
Where can we listen few samples of your musical style?
It could be easier if we could appreciate your music by listening it!...Words are not really important, only music is!
Peace!

i don't know if this is quite what you are after, but here are some tracks / albums which wor for me:
unlike just about all autechre stuff, their first album 'incunabula' has some great swirling melodic tracks with a beat but no kick and no harsh noises. i highly recommend tracks 'windwind' and '444'.
here are some albums i am enjoying at the moment:
an album by helios 'Unomia' on label merck. quiet beats and beautiful tunes, lush soundscapes.
the detroit escalator company 'black buildings' on label peacefrog - great melodies but in spite of the name no techno beats.
and an old favourite global communication's '76.14' on label dedicated.

I'm with KakoOlala, it sounds by your description that Ishq would be exactly what you are looking for. |
