also, does anyone have ny good specs on this, ie: what timbrality can you get from it, etc.

I think that you need to use at least version 9 to get any good results, and maybe older versions don't support new plugins, dunno. Anyway, why use Cakewalk? I'm moving to Logic as soon as I can. |

pro audio 8 do not support DXi's... so try the 9 version or Sonar for this. |

IMO, move to Sonar ASAP (cakewalk 8 and 9 aren't advanced enough), then download a VST-DX coverter (meaning you'll be able to run VSTi under DX shell) such as:
http://www.fxpansion.com/downloads/getmail.html?vdxs
(This is a trial version for 30 days)
Regarding Tassman, it's a nifty little DXi with all kinds of nice features. For further details:

thanx.. but im using cakewalk cos i like cakewalk im trying to find the best combo here, most people go for either software opr hardwar option, i already use hardware and i wanna support it with software.. also, are does anyone know of any good stand alone packages for the pc, that can be run through directx as a plugin? any that are worthwhile if i get sonar, given that this already has several packages with it? |

try: www.thedirectxfiles.com and decide what you want..but i'd go for sonar.the same interface, more possibilities, more stability.
i've tried cakewalk in this order: cubase[cool!]->logic audio[wow!!!]->cakewalk[hmm dull.]
but sonar seems promissing anyway :).
btw. Tassman is a great synth, not a little CPU eater, but sound is great.
BOM, majesy. |
