hi
what do u guys think about the cafe del mar cds......i recently got to check out a few like cafe del mar vol.11 and chillhouse mix 2 .....really nice stuff....
any recommendations on other cds from cafe del mar......

I quite like it, if Im in the mood for some more loungy type of music (and not the more psychedelic type)..
not all of their cds are good, some are just too cheesy/pop, but some I think are really good
perfect for that afternoon, after-lunch joint heheheh =) |

the best in my opinion are vol. 2,3,6
anyway all the first 6 are great.
after the sixth jose padilla is no more making the compilations and they lowered the standard i think.
Life is too short to eliminate all risks. |

I would not call them great, some of the stuff is quite good/ok. Nothing really to get much excited about, the girls like it.

Everybody who wants to deal with Chillout should learn from the Cafe Del Mar series - from both musical and marketing aspects.
I agree that not all of the tunes featured in the serie fit everybody's taste - some are more cheesy, some are more dancy and some are simply 'lost', yet there are some amazing gems there and the whole concept and flow of each Del Mar comp' is 100%.
If you're into loungy stuff like this, try http://www.electric-lounge.com, they have some wicked series of lounge music.
