Hey peeps, I am having an issue with my sidechaining and gate key input for the native plugins..please help...
I have input the gate on the synth channel (tried both midi and stereo because neither work).
Then, on the sends of my kick track (tried both midi for battery and stereo for my kick) I have the gate from my synth track.....I get sound out of my gate, until I activate the sidechain...once I do that it locks the output and no matter what I do, I get no sound, even if the threshold is at its lowest.....I still the signal input coming from the synth on the gate, but nothing goes out....
What am I doing wrong? |

You need to put the comp/gate on the channel you want it to affect, activate the sidechain button, then on the trigger channel go to sends and the comp/gate will be listed, set this to 0 and that will send the signal to the sidechain. |

Thanks, but set what to 0? the kick track? does that mean I have to create a duplicate kick track and mute, or lower the signal to 0?
I appreciate your help? |

is that on the send section, or do I use the channel fader? I haven't been able to find levels on the send section....Maybe I am looking in the wrong place...i go to the section that has the fader, eq, inserts and sends all in the same pop up window...when you click on the little e in the window. |

Hey, my first post here
PsyGZ you must put the noise gate in the insert of the audio track of your synth, not the midi. Then you activate the key input.
Then go to your kick track. if you click on send you will see a "sidechains" group and in there will be your synth's gate. activate this send and put the send level to 0 (unity) (ctrl click) and you are done!
(note: sidechains group in the send section will only apear for cubase's native dynamics, if you want to use another plugin there is a more complicated way to do this.)
There is also a button for prefader or postfader send. if you select post-fader send and close your kick's fader then the kick will not trigger your synth. if you choose the pre-fader send you can close your fader and still trigger your synth without hearing the kick. |

Thanks so much everyone. |
