Hey everyone how are you doing?
I have read many posts around here, I have read reviews @ soundonsound and other places with user reviews, etc... but since I am putting my hands on my pockets to buy these monitors... I want to be SURE! heheh
I will of course try to listen to them at the store, but I would like some opinions from users or people who know better!:)
I´m having trouble to decide between:
Alesis M1 Active MK2: I heard it has detailed sounds and great imagery for the price. Low freq @ 50hz
Fostex PM1: Good details and imagery for the price, smooth high, "a serious option between the few options for budget monitors"
Behringer B2031a: Didnt get much info on it, but saw a few reccomendations here.
Samson Resolv 65a: Good monitor, "but highs a bit irritating".
Roland Ds5: Don´t know much about it, but Roland is a good brand and a friend of mine has another Roland and thinks it SHOULD be a good option too.
Once again, I´m on a tight budget and I can´t really wait any longer because I am going to the US on Saturday... so I will take the opp to buy them now at a good price, not Brazilian rates - that stuff is very expensive here.
Please, all producers and audio freaks! Help me out with all your thoughts on the subject! )
My two favorites are: Alesis and Fostex. Why? Not sure... lol... but they are my fav option.
b00m and thanks in advance!

i recently tested out many
and ended up buying a pair of Event TR6
they sound amazing
very accurate.
soooo loud. i turn it to half volume and its still too loud.
and are a good price
i got them for music production not DJing
but i recommend u test them all out b4 u buy
reading a review wont matter.
they might be testing with rock music.
if you want psytrance then it will be different. |

Great. I am more confused now! LOL
Thanks SunDrop, I will look around... price is on the range.. I will read some reviews anyway.. hehe, but yeah got your point... most reviews are for rock music.
I will use the monitors for production too.
Can you tell me a bit more about the Event TR6 and also about the other options I mentioned above, if you tested them, etc?
Thanks bro, take care! |

to test them i brought a few psy CDs
and played them on each pair of monitors.
i was there for about 2 hours. this was no joke to me!! antilol i dont want to waste my cash.
i dont know much about monitors. just what i heard. i remember hearing the Roland ones as well. they were good but expensive. i tested 6 but cant remember the names. i didnt hear all the ones in your list.
later i read a review in Future Music (i believe) and they gave 5/5 to the monitors i bought.
ps i paid $550 canadian for the pair. |

Great info bro, thanks. I agree with your approach, I will listen to them at the store. Will definitely Bring some CDs with me: Definitely PsySex RMX (gotta listen to the Illumination, and the Domestic vs. Pixel ones.. sick stuff!) - Dynamo (thats a bassline!) - Groove Controllers (comp. from Altom - has a Shanti rmx that I like a lot and some other high quality tracks) - That should help!
Regardless, please everyone, share your comments and opinions!

my advice for you is
Yamaha MSP5 - I use them and its a great monitoring system
the monitor freq start at 50Hz
and anded in 40kHz!!!!!
crossover cross in 2.5kHz
you can cut the low and the high freq from the monitor to mech the sound to your studio
(tip-if you cuts the low freq from the monitor its sounds like NS10 monitor)
check sound on sound and other reviews about tham
however, you can buy roland Ds5(sound good)
or just buy what ever you like the most(use your ears)
and about the monitor tast take with you
*only original cds or wav fomat(not mp3)
*music with good sound
dont take only trance music
and listen to the monitor more than one time
(2-3 day's 2 hours a day)
Good luck |

i think that there are many people as the same quantity of recipes. the author of the topic should just listen to all of the varity of the monitors he can buy and just buy CONVINIENT for him.
sure the sound quality depends on the price very often, but there is always can be a suitable option.

I know that no human can hear those freqs
but look at the good side of this thing
40khz its a very high freq but no monitor can give you that freq even adam, genalec or dynaudio
this freqs used in sound lab's
you dont need this freqs but its sohws you Yamaha preformance

Monitors are not Roland´ s best gear, I have a couple of ds-30, bought them for the digital inputs but the converters are crap, I ended up using them in analog mode... You´ ll be paying extra bucks for nothing really useful. And the sound isn´ t very good...
Bought a pair of yamaha msp5 recently, far better.
Check the classic tannoy reveal too, very well priced at the moment in web stores... |
