can recomend this card too ,small and look great + it can be buss powered, for portable use i m very happy with it.
i was thiking to get a duet but this one have midi, digital i/o and converters are close for half the price.

but depending your computer, firewire or usb might give you trouble (with any interfaces)be sure to buy from a place you can return the product

might depend the card but the audiofire 2 come with a 4 to 6 pin cable , but i think you will have to use the power suply .(not really a problem and i m not sure about it )

have just tried this card in this price range but there is lot of choice, tc electronic ,steinberg , native instrument ...

for the sound i guess there is no difference but technically firewire is better for audio . not a problem for you , it s when recording lot of tracks and stuff like that with sound interface that have lot of input/outputs .

the best is the one that work as it should on your computer ,usb or fw dont matter in your case, but you may need some usb port free and not waste one for a soundcard for example if you are on a laptop with external keyboard, midi controller , mouse ...

theoretically FW is better cause it has got its own bus. Usb usually shares a bus with all your other usb stuff.           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

when it comes to finding a laptop with fw these days it becomes an expensive joke. i would go for usb.
