Thanks for the answers everyone!

Yesterday i bought a Novation Nocturn instead. I think i have to be better at the software first before trying the hw. And things will be much funnier with this midi controller.

Great website.

Have a listen to demos/songs, just let it play.
There's a great techno tune there....

See that analog crunch i am talkin' about ?

The 777 is a very cool synth as well, it's out of production ,so the second hand price should be well up now..

The XS:
It's 16 part midi which is good..

It has some patching possibilities, kinda cool to use it as an effects processor kinda thing.. don't u think?

No digital components, so, no patch saving... go pack to pen and paper..lol

No effects, but a very cool overdrive.

Gotta learn more about synths, but this one seems a good analog one for me...

yes i m sure it s a good one and if you love the sound go for it ! there is no fx but to me it s a plus and with that kind of synth it s easy to learn, everything is in front and what ever you tweak it sound good (when you know the basics about synthesis )

about using the audio inputs, check this video

for psytrance beat i m sure it s killer, recording all your drum hits samples via the synth to get some analog warmth and depth with the drive ,and make some glitchy hi tech sounds ,should definetly make some impressive beats imo

Nice vid.

Yeah, it'll be cool to process external sounds through it..

Instead of me using a virtual filter on some percussion in order to remove some freqs, could instead route that percussion into the synth filter and back out into sequencer...

Tell me something please!

AS the synth is 16 part midi, i can have 16 simultaneous tracks playing in my sequencer, one track for each midi channel. Ho does it work ?> Each midi channel has got the tweaks of a particular sound.. Is it like that?
If i am using the synth for more than one sound, every time i wanna tweak an instrument i select it on the sequencer, so the synthesizer knows which sound i wanna tweak...

I am missin' somethin' ?

i think you have 16 midi chanel but can only use one,it s monotimbral and monophonic, means you can do only one solo sound (no chords and only one patch at a time ,then you have to record to audio , like a tb 303 for exemple)

to my ears the much-vaunted 'analogue' sound is really dependent on the filter, above and beyond anything else... of course subtle nonlinearities, oscillator drift and distortion etc. are important, but i think it's analogue filtering which has the biggest impact on sound.

i'd love one of the standalone analogue filter units... Ebbe & Flut, Sherman Filterbank, even Jommox would be ace.

really though i think analogue tone can be recreated pretty well with careful programming, if that's what you want. i don't mind though, because i make music with digital and analogue components, and i can't imagine relying on some beastly old hard-wired analogue for general synthesis

yes me too thats why i use vsti cause worflow >> sound quality , cause i m a lazzy producer, synths always collect dust in my studio (but i would love to have a analog console with lot of colors for summing )
but it seems digital equipment most of the time sound fake when trying to sound analog and not as good, it s not only the filters it s everything, from the oscillators to the envelops but it depends the synth also...
