none of these or any other adjectives/vulgarities can even come close to describing this amazing festival. it is unbelieveable.
ill start by saying that this review wont have too much to saya bout trance so if thats what your looking for in this (or in the festival in general) your in the wrong place. and yes im aware its off topic but im sure this will interest eneough people to justify it.
that beign said let em get back to ranting liek a lunatic.
do you guys remember when you were 15, their were all those wierd kids who had mohawks and would talk about anrachy. the smarter ones would talk about a community that had absolute freedom but people felt secure because no one abused that freedom. everyone worked together or at least cooperated out of choice.
thats burningman.
that was what i liekd more than anythign else the amazing freedom and acceptance i found their. where else coudl you walk aroudn and teach thousands of americans how to say giant cock in hebrew (bulbul anak), or walk down the street and be offered a zappign witha caddle prod, adn five minutes laer be offered a margarita?
im goign to skip most of what i saw because i am alazy fuck and you can go see the pictures and ive described it a million tiems to a million people here in israel, my two big topics are the night of the burn and amt and trance
The Burn:
for those of you who dotn know, the festival is on the secodn largest stretch iof flat land in the world in middle of the desert in neveda. on three sides of you there are mountians, and one said opens into vast desert. within this "enclosure" their is about a kilometer of camps where people live/have interactive art/ parties/orgies/bars/anything you can imagine (barbie death camp, a rave camp with reall grass on the floor adn flowing water, a machine that spanks you automaticly) all this is in a circle, deeper within the cricle is about 600 meters of blank desert, just dust. and in the middle of itr all is an 80 foot statue of a man, lit blue at night, who stands on a pedestal.
this brings me to the burn. imagine 30,000 people all standing around this man, there is a 100 meter "safty zone" where at first what looked like 500 peope, walked aroudn douing poi, staff fire eating/spitting shooting flame throwers etc.
everyoen is screamign their are drum circles palyign everywher, the steady beats from the soudn ssytems is hitting you, the energy from alll these people is amazing and you could tell that soemthing crazy was about to happen.
the fire twirlers go dwon and their is no fire for a few seconds, the fireworks start, a wonderfull display but we have all seen firewoks before so its not impressive till the man himself looks liek a few fireworks went off in him ( acutally more like they took powdered magnesium and burnt it and shot it every which way, anjd alot of the stuff) and then you look down at the pedestal, and its a big fucking pedestal adn theri is a door in it and you see flames, anmd more flames and more flames and the fire inside it are burning with an undescribable intensity, and as more people notice (or the mushrooms kick in) an odd serenity falls over you and what seems liek the crowd liek teh blankness before an orgasm and then the man catches fire and everythign is crazy and his vlue lights burn out adn he just stands their and burns and its totally crazy. the man falls and now their si justa huge pile of burn, and from the intense heat the fire shoots out tornadoes full of dust adn coals and everyone is still going ape shit. and then the fireman gives the ok and 30,00 people start running aroudn this massive flame adn i cant tell you what its like to be in the center of it feeling the amazing heat of the biggest fire ve ever seen and sharign it with 30,000 people who were completely united for that period. WOW
TRANCE AT BM: not much for psy trance. their were to "psy camps" behind my camp neither of time played to mcuh really psy stuff. plus i heard to full on tracks the whole time i as theri so personnally i didnt find two much trance theri. apparntly their was a camp on the other side (about a mile away) that played good tracne but i never made it to them. lots of techy/ clubtrance/house.
but the ultiamte dance experienc of my life was thease guys mutaytor http://mutaytor.com/ who are like 8 drummers and lots fo fire and a bunch of pro dancers giving the ultimate tribal feelign dance experince ever. wow wow wow. it helped that the guy that was on before him brought a machien that shot lightnign into him so that hed be jumping and you would see electricity shoot into his adn out his feet into the floor to the beat of god techno.
thats all i cna say at the monet. it was amazing go their. anyone who wants to call and ask im at 067802594, and im goign to try adn organize an israely camp for net year, so if your in call em or if your curious or whatever.

Great to hear it was an amazing experience - everyone that's been there told me it's great. I'm sure there are a lot more stories to tell (what interesting performances did you see there?). I've been dying to go to burning man for ages... if I have enough money next year - this is definately something I'll do.

Trip,
a lot of ppl find strange dancing 10 hours non stop to a seemingly incomprehensible bunch of eletronic noises. Is there a story behind?
it's all a matter of perspective I think...
or maybe sth along the ways of seeing (and feeling) is believing.

Have You been to the Community Trance camp ? (oups, can't remember where it was  , but on the playa )
CT is a tance group from SF, they had DJs from the city during the week, at least for the last weekend.
I saw Maxx and Nikki (Biodegradable) set (... let me think.... sunday morning), and DJs from other SF's trance groups |

Basswave Marina was the big Community Trance camp. 35,000 watts of psy trance nearly all week.
Dark Soho played Sunday night btw.

Although this year there wasnt as much smaller camps playing psychedelic trance there was a lot of cool experiemental stuff going on. And with Basswave Marina pumping it out that totally made up for it.
It was a wonderful week this year. I went straight from Boom Festival back to SF and then to Burning Man, and it really felt great to be out there. Don't get me wrong Boom was amazing as well, but burning man is not a trance festival it is totally beyond words....this was my 5th year and I definitely will be there next year. To me Black Rock City is the closest I have to home on this planet.......hope to see many new faces there next year.
