Maybe if they made the music guide include genres it would be less of a nightmare. I'm sure there was plenty of music I WANTEd to hear, it was just a matter of finding it, and when it's primarily west coast DJ's, it's pretty hard to finger out who is who in a sea of names you've never heard of.

I don't know...I think I've given up on the idea for now after talking to people on the webcam chat(most people seemed incredibly lame) and reading eplaya...seems like LA/SF hipster high school.
Not chill like a rave and not hakim bey taz anarachy anymore.

I have never been to Burning man. I wanted to go about 11 years ago or so when I firststarted hearing about it then something changed my mnd and it wasn't calling me anymore. Maybe the amount of people, commercialism of it I'm not sure. However in the past 2 years it's been calling me again. My girl friend went for the first time this year and scouted it out for me. After speaking with her I'm going to be attending BM next year.
Oh and I hear psykovski changed some lives and did some nice energy work on some people.

That is about as logical as saying "fuck you, get 200k together and start your own event if you don't like it"
A cult is a bit strong..you can't have an event run that long though with that many people and not have an element of "us vs them" develop. "true burners" vs "tourist"..
Thats just the way humans are wired.
I'm just accepting that I missed temporary autonomous zone..and too dumb in the 90s to realize the temporary part of it..I would still probably go if i lived on the west coast but It would be a literal cross country drive for me.
Also things seem to have become solidified..I was checking out going to one of the regionals that is close to me and they are looking for "greaters" and "rangers"..even though from the pictures last year looks like about 30 people showed up..its like reading off a burning man "script".
Although I did read a quote from someone on a board that said "its an event for hipster yuppies to pretend to be anarchist for a week"...hehe. While a bit harsh I think there is clearly an element of truth to that.

so, I have friend's that help, in no small part, put together the sound camp known on the playa as "Nexus"..... publicly, as in they are open about this when you talk to them about it, their camp is designed with the express intention of "contacting aliens"
Nexus sound camp, also, is no small part of the burning man crew...most of them are from san fran and have been there at least since the early 90's, and though they technically are "second generation burners", theyre about as authentic and religious about the thing as the originals (i've had discussions with the guy who designed the original form of camps @ burning man, known as an XLR8R, which Nexus camp @ the burn is in the shape of as well, and so are most trance floors, whether the designer intended it or not[was bass camp?]..... he doesn't and hasn't gone to burning man since 2002)
some of you know who i'm talking about
MOST of burning man is what meets the eye, albeit only the trained eye.....but there is an element of cultishness to it, but then again, I love Goa Gil (left field)
T.A.Z. it may not be....that seems like too fragile a goal anyway
to throw some "hippie bullshit" @ ya, i think it's one giant energy beacon....i don't know that it's at the right frequency, though, but this could change

I will admit to being a complete Bey fan boy..but having been thinking about this a lot the past 2 months I think fragility is kind of the point of the T.A.Z, hence the T in T.A.Z.....
I just talked to the guy I know the best from venice that has gone 11 times since 1996 and he said this was the best ever..What tilts me though is he followed that up with "we are popular" referring to his camp...like I said...high school...
He said for the Bey kind of thing I should go to Juplaya on the 4th of July in the Mojave but only 1k people come out for that I guess..not enough people for the experience I seek..
He sent me some amazing pics of the dancing lady sculpture this year...what an embarrassment for art museums. Not even seeing it in person its obviously one of the most amazing pieces of sculpture since ancient times...its almost on the level of Egyptian....
That kind of thing is what makes me want to go. Need to give me a few months to sort things out in my head and put a crew togather because like I said, we will be driving literally cross country...
I'm too far away to help with a psy sound camp but I would probably donate/pay $500 bucks to hear Pleiadians Maia at dawn on the playa on the backside coming down sunday morning...

Big ups to the people from LA / PsyTribe / ISrael + Japan for the rocking little psychedelic trance party near 10:00 on the morning after the burn. It was awesome to finish a long, dark night off with spongecake, strawberries, sunshine and Goa trance.
it was an awesome morning psy vibe that I truly enjoyed and appreciated!

This is needed. I had no idea Meta was even there.
Also, Nexus was pretty much the shit. They combined with overkill and circus maximum to creat the most overblown awesome soundcamp evar. They had a funktion 1 rig AND a turbosound rig, 3 domes, a circus/lighting rig in the center, an amazing programmable flaming giant globe, a bar, and a huge wooden jungle gym for adults. KUDO's.
