On this topic, anyone know about the reverse of this?
Am playing in Tokyo in April, and as the voltage there is significantly lower, will that mean a problematic power supply for my laptop/soundcard/synth?
I've got the RME fireface soundcard however, which - according to the specs has an "included switching power supply accepts voltages from 100 to 240 V, thus can be operated all over the world. "
Which makes me happier,
But i would prefer to not run on battery with laptop/be able to charge it.
cheers,
Nik

Your laptop doesn't really require 220volts or whatever you have there. You use a transformer to charge it - that black box in the middle of the cable
All you need is a transformer that fits Japan voltage - ask them to get you one... for your laptop.

it'll say the rating on your adaptor 100-240, or something like that. i live in Japan, and have used laptops bought overseas here, and vice versa, never had a problem. most laptops are built with the traveller in mind, unless it is super el-cheapo. all apple laptops, for example, can be used for any voltage rating
where are you playing, by the way?

I've fried an effects processor by using the wrong wall-wart adapter with it. I have since bought a metallic sharpie marker, and label every power supply as not to make the same mistake again.
Best of luck with it! Keep The Faith,
