i was wondering what would be today's
basic-most-updated trance collection
in different parts of the world
u know...name 8-9 most BASIC albums
that a person should have in these days....
are we so different in our taste? or r we a mass of sheeps......

this is an interesting question
people often do this for eg jazz music, however i think there are some reasons why it is not so clear (yet). This scene is at most ten years old whichever way you cut it and in many ways we are still in its boom period.. obviously its not '95 any more but the music is still popular and a lot of it is being produced. With some other musical styles it is a lot easier to appraise entire periods in their evolution eg bebop and say "well x was the most important album" . in jazz its often things like "a kind of blue" that are the "essentials" but there have been many years to assess the influence and importance of this album - a luxury we don't really have yet for trance.. can logic bombs new album (released in april) really be one of the defining moments of the scene after just 6/7 months?
basically i think its too early to do major analyses like this, it will just be skewed too much by peoples tastes - like when robbie bloody williams is voted into top 10 tunes of the last millenium.. not a joke unfortunately, just the goldfish memory of the public..

From Doc's list, I'd take out "The Gathering" and replace it with "Classical Mushroom", since imo it's the real breakthrouhg in israeli trance...ellaborate, deep, complex. In "Gathering" you still feel Goa vibes...and imo Trust in Trance 3 touches that enough...
and I don't really think Ticon will reach essentialness status. but that's just me.
I think Atmos is pretty much everything that has been said on progressive scene until these days...nobody comes even close by any standards...
and if we're to add a disc that really introduced darkness and minimalism to the scene, that ought to be Iboga's "Tryptamin".
