ah ha! a man after my own heart.
i've been working on hardware only psytrance for a good year now.
you're not going to get the big sexy basslines with out a computer controlling your hardware, but you can get some damn good neo-goa off of just about anything.
here's my hardware psytrance rig:
EMU xl-7 command station
MS2000R
Virus A
alesis micron.
the command station is the most important part in that as i can get 32 different channels and some decentish effects.
need to get a kaoss pad...
but if you're looking for small snyths, go with the waldorf blofeild, the virus snow, stuff like that

I don´t really think you need to use a computer to get nice basssounds
Im really thinking about buying a ms2000 R
and use it for various things as leads , effects.
But what synth is suitable for basssounds ?
Novation bassstation, Deepbass nine or Waldorf Pulse maybe.
Hoe do you use the command station ?

the MS2000 is great for basslines actually.
my statement about computer basslines being better is only because you can sidechain your compression and adjust the size of your bass notes. really really hard to do with hardware (if anyone knows please bring it up).
you can use anything for nice bass sounds, but the construction of the bassline itself is easier to get a more modern sound on a computer.
my command station is the heart of my hardware rig, it's easily the best sequencer i've ever messed with, has pretty decent sounds itself, and has 32 midi channels. i program everything out on that and just tweak knobs while i drop in live clips.... |
