Whatever comes into mind at the time
Usually 8 bars... sometimes less, sometimes more.

Buildups can be very subtle or very obvious. to go on a gross scale, Astral Projection buildup style's Very Obvious, you can guess what's gonna come next. on the other hand, if you take a bitmonx type of buildup, you'll notice some of AP's Methods, but it will come as a shock to you when the buildup ends and the creschendo hits you. my advice is - take 8-16 bars, go absolutely wild on as many instruments as you can without creating any clatter, and than take half a bar before breaking in the creschendo, and insert an abrupt break, somthing crazy, a sample, a tweak, anything to continue the track going while leaving the listener gawking.

tweaking sounds and powerfull bass will make any audionce jump!
Make your bulidups with open mind! |
